Money Sink - My Xmas present to Sharon was a car. It stretched the budget a touch, and we couldn't afford anything flash. With just a budget of £500 (I still hadn't started work) we managed to find a
Citroen AX 1.4 TRZ and I thought we'd lucked on to a bit of a bargain.
'S funny with old cars though. A further £200 went straight away on a full service and cam-belt change. Sharon had her first accident in the ice 3 weeks ago and that cost us £400 (the damage was more than you would normally have expected due to some hidden rust giving way causing the front end to buckle. And yesterday, as Sharon was driving to hospital for a check up (not something I want to talk about right now) it just stopped. No explanation. It just stopped.
I was an hour away and unable to make it back. Luckily my Mum & Dad were around to rescue her.
We checked it over today and the alternator has given up the ghost. Not too expensive to replace but already the thing has cost us £1,100. We could have bought a much better car for that. One that's far less likely to let her down like that.
Life's a bummer like that.
that's a nice rock!
