Just another brick in the wall. My old high school burnt down last night.
The adult in me recognises the damage and disruption this will cause, especially as today was the day that the 18 year olds were supposed to have picked up their A level exam results. We are also just 2 weeks away from the start of the new school year so there's some quick work to be done to provide hundreds of children with somewhere to learn. The building itself was in excess of 100 years old and of historic interest.
However, I spent 5 years at that school wishing for and dreaming about such an occurance. Its difficult not to have a tiny part of me see this as some kind of fulfilment of those hopes, all be it 15 years too late.
Luckily no one was hurt. I hope that they manage to organise something for the pupils without too much delay.
