w.bloggar You may or may not know that I post to my
Blogger blog using the
w.bloggar tool. It allows offline editing, saving of draft postings, a larger text editing area, pinging of weblogs.com on publishing, colourising of HTML and customisable previews of posts.
This week
w.bloggar reaches version 3 (or to be precise 3.00.0134 - programmers are a weird bunch). This version includes a number of new functions but the most important one for me is the spellcheck.
I'm fussy about spelling in writing for public consumption, but unfortunately my typing skills are slightly dyslexic as my fingers often can't keep pace with my thoughts. Until now I was cutting and pasting everything into Word to check the spelling before posting. Hopefully now I can avoid that. All I need is the w.bloggar spellcheck to be updated to include UK English.
Word Up! I use Microsoft Word for all of my word processing requirement (in fact I'm running the whole Office Professional Suite) and this includes the contracts, invoices and letters I create for the
Mobile Disco and Agency. I also created a template for CD covers.
For some reason, at the start of this week all of the documents I create and/or print using Word are just fractionally bigger than they were before. The contents of contracts and invoices no longer fit within my printed letterheads (also created on Word and printed separately) and the CD covers no longer fit inside the boxes. Its like my printer has suddenly decided to start printing everything at 105% magnification but I can't see that any settings have been altered.
Hours of fun. In my twenties, my favourite game when drunk was
Pass the Pigs. And now it's online, complete with computer opponent. Now I've finally found
something else I can play with when I'm surfing the internet on my own.
Friday Search Found Haven't done this for a while, so lets have a look at the weird and wonderful search terms that bring the unsuspecting cyber-tourists to this sleepy little bywater. I've said it before but it's worth repeating, I will never understand what these people expect to find when they search on these phrases. This time in no particular order.
I use Site Meter to track my visitors which I believe doesn't catch and track everyone who passes through. I was contemplating upgrading my blog to
Blog*Spot Plus to remove the banner ad and have access to
bStats.
Do I put it out of its misery? A blogger who doesn't have much to say is a bit like a lame dog. Virtually all of my time is taken up trying to scrape together a pittance by which to support my family. My job does not give much scope for generating interesting conversation/writing pieces (unless you want a blow by blow account of the time a woman answered the door wearing just a dressing gown). So I'm left with no content for my blog.
I have considered taking a hiatus, but I know that if I do there's a good chance I would never return.
So instead, I have decided to limp on. The site may have all the fight and teeth of a mangy mongrel with worms, but over time it should improve. Hopefully it may even document the re-awakening of my mental faculties once I begin a job that requires more thought than simple route planning.
My current favourite joke.

Those who understand binary and those who don't.
