Its raining boys! My good friend, and best man at my wedding, Jack and his wife have had a baby boy at 5:55am today. A little friend for Connor to play with!
My days would be empty without it. During my wanders around cyberspace I came across the following landmarks. Each of them makes a nice place to stop off and admire the virtual scenery.
- Attrition.org - An excellent gallery of over 3500 pictures, humorous and otherwise, collected from email circulars and the internet. You know, the sort of things your mate emails to you but you never seem to have one to send back. Well now you do.
- What do you believe? - Are you not sure which organised religion (or lack of) most closely mirrors your personal beliefs? Currently going to church every Sunday when in fact your beliefs are more Hindu that Catholic? This series of 20 questions aims to tell you which religious organisation or classification would suit your personal ideals. Mine is Secular Humanist who are basically Atheists with organised moral structures (I think).
- Richest Fictional Characters - The normally staid and reserved Forbes magazine has let its hair down and had a bit of a laugh compiling the top 15 richest fictional characters. Complete with a short, almost accurate biography of each character its an amusing way to pass 10 minutes.
- The Periodic Table - It's been a long time since I was studying physics and chemistry at 'A' Level but I know this would have been useful. These days I barely even understand it. The site however has a whole pile of interesting Java applets explaining various aspects of physics.

Memories. Wil Wheaton has an excellent little piece of writing
today. The smell of a perfume on a complete stranger brought back recollections of early romantic fumblings. It got me thinking; what happened to my memories of times like that?
I know that I have had some exquisite moments in my life that would be good to look back upon and relive. Unfortunately my memory is so poor that, whilst I can remember the fact that something happened, I cannot remember the event itself. If I close my eyes I cannot picture any of the scenes, except in my imagination. Its like the difference between having actually experienced something and having merely read about someone else's experience.
I hate that my memory is so bad. I wish I could treasure all of those many moments I hear others describe in picture perfect detail. The birth of my latest child, now only 9 weeks old, is already almost as hazy as the memory of my fist kiss.
My first kiss is an excellent example. I know who it was with. I know when it was. I cannot remember how it felt, how it made me feel or the nervousness I imagine I felt immediately before it happened.
And, once lost, we can never recapture these gems. I envy those who can keep theirs safe and relive them merely by closing their eyes.
All shook up! The UK experienced its strongest earthquake for over 10 years last night. At around about 1am Sharon and I were woken by a strong shaking. I thought a plane had flown very low or an extremely big truck had driven past the house (not that one would fit up our road) but when there was nothing outside I realised it must have been a tremor.
Registering about 4.8 on the Richter scale, the epicentre was about 30 miles away from us in Dudley. Thankfully no one was hurt.
For many people across the world a minor tremor like this is a regular occurence, but this is the first one I can ever remember experiencing.
